Step #2 Turn off the Water Supply Once you have the right filter, then you are ready to get started. Before you take off the old filter, you need to be sure that you turn off the supply of water to your refrigerator. Otherwise you will end up with a huge mess and water everywhere. Usually there is a handle that can be found right behind the fridge that will turn off the water supply to it.
Step #3 Take Out the Old Filter After you are sure that the water is off, then you can take off the old filter. Make sure that you do this carefully so that you wont cause any damage that may make it difficult when installing the new filter for your refrigerator.
Step #4 Place the New Filter On and Attach with Brass Nuts Next you will need to put the new refrigerator filters on and then use the brass nuts to attach it properly. Use your fingers to tighten up the nuts and make sure that they are tight enough so that you prevent any leaks from occurring.
Step #5 Turn the Water On and Check for Leaks Once you have the refrigerator water filter installed, then you will need to turn on the water. After the water is on, check your new filter closely to be sure that there are no leaks that will cause any problems. If there are leaks, you may need to tighten up the brass nuts a bit tighter.
Step #6 Flush the New Filter Now that you have the refrigerator water filters installed you will need to flush out the new filter. You can do this by running the water through the new filter for about 5-10 minutes. This will make sure that you get rid of any particles of debris that may have got into the filter.
